Travel Visions for 2019

When I plan a trip, I generally have a number of places at top of mind that I would love to go to. Then depending on time of year, what’s going on at work and life and the amount of time I have, I’ll end up picking something from the list or might get an opportunity to go somewhere. In a perfect world, I’d love to do all of these trips this year, but I’m sure that won’t be the case. Below is the list that I’m currently inspired by.

  • The Northern Lights – I have been so inspired by the visual beauty of photographs of the Northern Lights that getting to see them in person is getting to be a bit of an obsession. It’s to the point where its starting to P me off that I haven’t seen them yet. It seems like the best places to see them are either Fairbanks, Alaska area, northern Canada, or Northern Sweden, Finland, Norway, or Iceland. I’m tentatively thinking Alaska is going to be the move.

  • National Parks in an RV – I felt compelled recently to explore the grandiose beauty that exists in the U.S. at national parks. I’m not much of a camper (I’ve never camped), but the idea of renting a luxury RV that you can stay in and not have to switch around hotels or get on a plane started to call to me. At one point in my grand vision I was traveling across the national parks in my luxury RV for a couple of weeks if not months. Nor have I ever been in an RV. I started looking into it, it’s actually pretty expensive to rent an RV, so perhaps my extended RV trip won’t occur, but I would definitely look to do a couple of days in an RV at a National Park. Not positive which Park specifically, but definitely somewhere out west, Glacier National Park, Yellowstone or Yosemite.

  • Patagonia – Every time I travel somewhere new, and meet fellow travelers, there are always a couple of places that the fellow travelers talk about as a must see. When I went to Panama in February of 2018, that place was Patagonia in Argentina/Chile. Many were actually mentioning Columbia as well. But a quick search for some photos of Patagonia and its easy to tell how a visit could be a trip of a lifetime. This is another place as I started looking into seems like it could easily warrant a 2 week trip at least. This probably won’t be on the docket for 2019 but it’s something I’m thinking about. I want to either hit Central America again or South America asap.

Southeast Asia – I am penciling this in as a honeymoon trip sometime in 2020. Not positive where exactly to hit but Thailand and Bali are my main thoughts.

Portugal/Spain/Morocco – Portugal and Spain have been on the list for so long and have yet to be crossed off. Josh and I have been talking about Portugal for some time, and my sister is trying to get to Morocco. Morocco is supposed to be a serious kind of destination so I am thinking of potentially combo-ing that w/ Spain.
